Chief Strategy Officer
Ben leads the business development team and is the lead negotiator for all acquisitions and divestitures for Nexus BSP. Ben also oversees both internal and extrenal communications for Nexus BSP and leads the strategic planning process for the company. Ben also collaborates with the finance team on all forecasting, financial modeling, budgeting and hedging.
Ben joined Nexus BSP in September of 2014, with a focus on business development and communications. Prior to joining the company, Ben served as Managing Partner for Bay Energy Partners LLC. During that time, he was responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company, overseeing the day-to-day operations of 55 oil and gas properties, implementing a new accounting system, and negotiating new bookkeeping and field operation agreements.
Before joining Bay Energy Partners, Ben spent four years with the Office of Governor Bill Ritter, Jr., most recently as the Senior Policy Advisor for Economic Development. As part of the governor’s economic team, Ben worked closely with the Governor’s Energy Office to implement new sustainability and renewable energy initiatives. Ben also played an integral role in setting economic policy and strategy, specifically leading the day-to-day policy creation and stakeholder outreach process. Ben’s work contributed to the passage of over twenty individual pieces of legislation, which resulted in the creation of over 4,000 new jobs and $310.4M in direct capital investment.
In 2011, Ben spent six months in Nairobi, Kenya, where he worked as a pro-bono consultant for Carolina For Kibera, an organization that focuses on economic empowerment initiatives in Nairobi’s Kibera Slum. Leveraging his background in economic development, Ben led the strategic planning process and helped establish new monitoring and evaluation systems for the organization.
Ben graduated Phi Kappa Phi from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, earning an MBA with Distinction. Ben also holds a Master of Public Policy from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in American Culture from the University of Michigan. He currently serves as the International Chair of Moishe House, in addition to serving on the boards of JewishColorado, and Health One Rose Medical Center. He is also the past Chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council.
